A Singaporean in Tokyo (as in Gershwin's 「An American in Paris」 get it?)

Here`s what i was up in the final week of my 夏休み^^...

先ず、back to sushi-land to shake off the holiday dust.. but not before meeting up with Charles, fellow Singaporean from 東大。No rojak or prata here but, at least i can converse in Singlish with my fellow countryman ;p

Yummy donburi at 上野、Charles` fave place to meet. Ha! He looks like a Japanese cos he has been in studying in Tokyo for 6 years! *gasp* We are both returning to orchidland in 2009. Talk about withdrawal symptoms.

Finally.. the 餡蜜place that Charles has been raving about.. food-wise i still prefer 都路里at Shiodome. But thanks for the info, Charles! It`s the company that counts la!

上野and Naruto movie are like the must-do for each summer, cos both of us were at Ueno and watched the Naruto movie in 2007 too!

Yeah!My last Naruto movie LIVE since I won`t be around next Summer. *Sob sob*

Nice title this year -> 絆(kizuna) meaning `bonds` (no, not James Bond.)

The movie is only showing in ulu theatres or mini-theatres (where they show alternative films particularly foreign art films). Look at this one called `Cinema Rosa` at Ikebukuro. Lovely name, but looks like ulu cinema i went to at Chia-yi. Opps. Sorry. Anyway this is the popcorn counter. Yes, i know.

The sign pasted on the doors of the theatre, telling us to wait outside because there is massive amount of chakra inside. Cute lah, totally for kids lor this movie. Charles and I were like the only adults, excluding the parents who were there with the kids.

Looks posh right. Ha. Free seating so we went in early to grab the last row seats cos the theatre`s really tiny.

Shaky shot cos we were nervous that the attendant behind us in white will catch us using the camera. They are pretty strict about videocaming and the anti-piracy law. Here we are, posing with the free gift. Btw, our ticket costs 1500yen each (student rate) which is like S$20. So stop complaining you lucky people in orchidland! With plushy seats and hot popcorn!

Didn`t expect to get a free gift for the movie. This shows how big the anime is in Japan.

Cute necklace, it is a hologram (??) that changes from Naruto to the word 絆 when you flick the guitarpick-like thing that is supposedly the pendant. Not a lot of points in terms of fashion sense but 80 points for creativity (doesn`t it remind you of the ruler you used to play with in Primary school?) and 100 points for sincerity.

Movie was bad, as usual, with lousy plot and overrated trailer, but well well, for the experience lor, i was pretty excited (just like last year) so was pretty disappointed.

Thanks for the company, Charles! I had a great time ;)
